WDCTS-TCML (Washington D.C. Taiwanese School -Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning) Conversation Class Note - May 12, 2024



Today, four students were absent: Steve. Ken, Joseph, and Olga.  
1. Reviewing classmates' homework: 
 * Homophones with "河" (river) and "湖" (lake): Example: In the “Outdoor Class” (Luncheon at Floe’s Taiwanese cuisine), we ordered nine dishes. It cost $25, including tips. 
 * Homophones with "叫" (call) and "教" (teach): 
 Example: Rico is a tennis coach (teacher). 
 Remind students: "湖" (lake) and "河" (river) are different. 





 2. Warm-up activity: Training listening skills, questioning, and distinguishing differences between ages and months. 
 * Sasha, how old is your son? 
 * My son is three and a half years old! 
 * Sorry, I misspoke. He is three and a half months old. 
 * Sasha, how tall is your son? 
 * He is 30 inches tall. 

 3. Practice distinguishing time words: 前天 (the day before yesterday), 昨天 (yesterday), 今天 (today), 明天 (tomorrow), 後天 (the day after tomorrow) 
 * 前天- Friday 
 * 昨天- Saturday 
 * 今天- Sunday (Mother's Day) 
 * 明天- Monday 
 * 後天 The day after tomorrow
 4. All students practice sentence patterns by incorporating verbs. 

 5. 5/19 is the last day of class this semester. 

 6. Summer online courses will still be held every two weeks. We will keep Sundays from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. 

 7. Homework: Please write a sentence for each of the "time words."

Jīntiān yǒu sì wèi xuéshēng quēxí:
葛艾倫,范健,吉約瑟,奧爾佳。

1. Fùxí jiǎnchá tóngxué de gōngkè:
* Hé jí hé de tóngyīn yìyìzì
* Jiào jí jiào de tóngyīn yìyìzì
Lìzǐ:
Jiào- 5/5 de shìwài jiàoxué (Táiwān xiǎochī wǔcān), wǒmen jiào jiǔ dàocài. $25 kuài, lián xiǎofèi.
Lìzǐ:
Jiào- Xióng dà dōng shì wǎngqiú jiàoshī (=lǎoshī).
Gàosù tóngxué: Hú hé hé shì bù yīyàng de.

2. Nuǎnshēn huódòng:
Xùnliàn tīnglì, wèndá, jí biànbié (suì jí yuè) de bùtóng.
* Cài xiàxuě, nǐ de érzi duō dàle?
* Wǒ de érzi, sān suì bànle!
* Duìbùqǐ, shuō cuòle. Tā shì sān gè bàn yuè dà.

6. Shǔjià de wǎngluò kèchéng shì měi liǎng gè xīngqí shàngkè-réngrán wéichí xīngqīrì, yī diǎn bàn dào liǎng diǎn bàn.
