    We welcome Joseph’s mother, Laurie Gillen, who is visiting him from New York to participate in our class today. "She enjoys our 'self-introduction in Mandarin,' and our students all share their family roots from their ancestors with her. The basic simple conversation in Mandarin from everyone is quite lively."   我們歡迎 吉約瑟 的母親 Laurie Gillen ,她從紐約來探望他並參加我們今天的課程。她喜歡我們的「用華語-自我介紹」,我們的學生都與她分享了他們的祖先從哪裡來。大家用基本又簡單華語進行的對話非常熱鬧。 Wǒmen huānyíng jí yuē sè de mǔqīn Laurie Gillen, tā cóng niǔyuē lái tànwàng tā bìng cānjiā wǒmen jīntiān de kèchéng.     We use Fariha, Ken, and Darrel’s homework to practice listening skills and recognize a few vocabularies:     我們使用 Fariha ( 何妃琳) 、 Ken ( 范健) 和 Rico ( 熊大東) 的家庭作業來練習聽力技巧並認識一些生詞: Wǒmen shǐyòng Fariha,Ken hé Darrel de jiātíng zuòyè lái liànxí tīnglì jìqiǎo bìng rènshí yīxiē shēngcí: 1.       1.   “Turkey”-   There are two separate ways to write “chicken” with the radicals “ 鳥 “ – Cock on its legs; and “ 隹 “ short-tailed bird in flight.   These two are interchangeable words.   We use "Hanzi writing radical chart" to explain the "bird" and the "beauty" two words. 美 : měi            1.     This word, “ 美 ”   is “beautiful.”   Its pictograph depicts a person wearing an ornate headdress, which is considered very beautiful.                2.  Some oth...
