WDCTS-TCML (Washington D.C. Taiwanese School -Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning) Conversation Class Note - Oct 22, 2023

 




 



1.     We had discussed the difference between the following two syntaxes when we reviewed Sasha’s homework in regard to “radical – enclose.”

我們在複習關於「部首- (wéi)」的作業時討論了以下兩種語法之間的不同。

Wǒmen zài fùxí cài xià xuě guānyú `bù shǒu-wéi (wéi)'de zuòyè shí tǎolùnle yǐxià liǎng zhǒng yǔfǎ zhī jiān de bùtóng.


 


 

1.  等不及(cannot wait)

Děng bùjí

洋安娜 said “I can’t wait for spring to come.  It’s too cold in winter."

洋安娜 說, “我等不及春天來。 冬天太冷了。”

洋安娜 shuō,  Wǒ děng bùjí chūntiān lái. Dōngtiān tài lěngle.

2. 來不及 (too late)


Láibují

It’s too late for me to eat dinner.  I did not make it in time.

李愛美 said, “我來不及吃晚飯,我沒有時間。”

李愛美 shuō,  “Wǒ láibují chī wǎnfàn, wǒ méiyǒu shíjiān.”

3.  馬上 (immediately)


葛艾倫 said, “I am coming immediately, I am not in a hurry

葛艾倫 說, “我馬上來,我不急。”

葛艾倫 shuō,  “Wǒ mǎshàng  lái, wǒ bù jí.”

4.  四元 =「四圓」=  四塊錢


Sì yuan = Sì yuan = Sì kuài qián

4塊蛋糕  a measure word for a unit of things or items.


The unit of New Taiwan Dollar is "yuan", or simply "yuan". In folk parlance, it is called "dollars".

It’s also used as a unit for anything that means a “ piece.”


新臺幣單位為「圓」,或簡作「元」。民間說法有稱「塊錢」。

也被用作任何表示“一塊”的單位。

In fact, circle and vowel have the same pronunciation, and each has its own original meaning. Yuan means – round/circle. Yuan is a unit of the New Taiwan dollar.  However, after thousands of years, it gradually evolved and began to have some similar meanings. It may be that when writing, there are too many strokes for circle, which is naturally inconvenient. Yuan began to be used as yuan,

事實上,「圓」和「元」母音的發音相同,但每個字的意思都不同。圓的意思是圓形。 元是新台幣的單位。 它隨著時間慢慢地變化,最終變成幾乎相同的意思。 可能是寫字的時候,圓的筆畫太多了,不方便。 「圓」就被用作「元」。

We also discussed about Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) pre-screening 2.0 system allowing students to test the proficiency level in “Listening” and “Reading” parts so I can plan the courses based on the students’ abilities.

我們也討論了華測快篩系統(TOCFL)2.0,讓學生可以測試「聽力」和「閱讀」部分的程度,這樣我就可以根據學生的能力程度來規劃課程。

Wǒmen yě tǎolùnle huá cè kuài shāi xìtǒng (TOCFL)2.0, Ràng xuéshēng kěyǐ cèshì `tīnglì'hé `yuèdú'bùfèn de chéngdù, zhèyàng wǒ jiù kěyǐ gēnjù xuéshēng de nénglì chéngdù lái guīhuà kèchéng.
