• Teacher Wu said, "How's everyone!  It's the first day of our class in 2021.  Let's welcome our new teaching assistant, Ting and a possible new student, Matt's fiancée , Shannon."  吳老師說: "大家好! 這是我們 2021 年開學的第一天。讓我們歡迎我們的新助教, Ting, 筠婷 和一位可能的新學生，Matt 的未婚妻 Shannon。" Wú lǎoshī shuō: "Dàjiā hǎo, zhè shì wǒmen 2021 nián kāixué de dì yī tiān. Ràng wǒmen huānyíng wǒmen de xīn zhùjiào, Tíng, hé yī wèi kěnéng de xīn xuéshēng,Matt de wèihūnqī, Shannon."
  
  
  
• Teacher Wu said, "We Washington Taiwanese school are so luck to be selected as one of the 15 schools among 90+ world Chinese schools as "Community Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning."  吳老師說: "我們華府台灣學校有幸被選為世界90多所中文學校中的15所學校之一，作為“社區台灣華語文學習中心”。" Wú lǎoshī shuō: "Wǒmen Huá fǔ Táiwān xuéxiào yǒuxìng bèi xuǎn wèi shìjiè 90 duō suǒ zhōngwén xuéxiào zhōng de 15 suǒ xuéxiào zhī yī, zuòwéi “Shèqū Táiwān huáyǔ wén xuéxí zhōngxīn."
• Teacher Wu said, "It's a new school year. we will make our class  creative and interesting for all of us.  The goal is to have you to pass the proficiency level at Test of Chinese as a foreign language (TOCFL)" in the future.."  吳老師說: "這是一個新的學年。 我們將使我們的班,有創造性和趣味性。 目標是讓你在未來能夠通過 “華語文能力測驗。" Wú lǎoshī shuō: "Zhè shì yīgè xīn de xuénián. Wǒmen jiāng shǐ wǒmen de bān yǒu chuàngzàoxìng hé qùwèi xìng. Mùbiāo shì ràng nǐ zài wèilái nénggòu tōngguò "Huáyǔ wén nénglì cèyàn.""
• Teacher Wu said, "To fulfill 3 hours per week requirement, beside our regular class time, we will use another one and half hours per week to set aside for language projects, symposiums, posters, speech contests and other formats.  I know time is of the essence, we will reach the ultimate goal to fully achieving the learning and time requirement."  吳老師說: "為了滿足每週 3 小時的要求，除了我們正常的上課時間，我們每週還會用另外一個半小時用於語言項目、座談會、海報、演講比賽和其他形式。 我知道時間是最重要的，我們將達到完全達到學習和時間要求的最終目標。。" Wú lǎoshī shuō: "Wèile mǎnzú měi zhōu 3 xiǎoshí de yāoqiú, chúle wǒmen zhèngcháng de shàngkè shíjiān, wǒmen měi zhōu hái huì yòng lìngwài yīgè bàn xiǎoshí​​yòng yú yǔyán xiàngmù, zuòtán huì, hǎibào, yǎnjiǎng bǐsài hé qítā xíngshì. Wǒ zhīdào shíjiān shì zuì zhòngyào de, wǒmen jiāng dádào wánquán dádào xuéxí hé shíjiān yāoqiú de zuìzhōng mùbiāo."
• Joseph (高 靖和) said, "I like the creative class format.  I would like to use Chinese poems, either classical or modern to translate them into English as my research project."  Joseph (高 靖和)說: "我喜歡創意班的形式。 我想用中國詩歌，無論是古典的還是現代的翻譯成英文作為我的研究項目。" Joseph (高 靖和) shuō: "Wǒ xǐhuān chuàngyì de xíngshì. Wǒ xiǎng yòng zhōngguó shīgē, wúlùn shì gǔdiǎn de háishì xiàndài de fānyì chéng yīngwén zuòwéi wǒ de yánjiū xiàngmù."
• Teacher Wu said, "I think that's a marvelous class assignment.  I would be happy to be your research advisor.  I will share a few collections of mine and we will use your favorite poems as well to work together and make it happen."  吳老師說: "我認為這是一項了不起的課堂作業。 我很樂意成為你的研究導師。 我將分享我的一些收藏，我們也將使用您最喜歡的詩歌一起工作並實現它。。" Wú lǎoshī shuō: "Wǒ rènwéi zhè shì yī xiàng liǎobùqǐ de kètáng zuòyè. Wǒ hěn lèyì chéngwéi nǐ dì Yánjiū dǎoshī. Wǒ jiāng fēnxiǎng wǒ de yīxiē shōucáng, wǒmen yě jiāng shǐyòng nín zuì xǐhuān de shīgē yīqǐ gōngzuò bìng shíxiàn tā."
• Darrell Rico Doss ( 熊大東) said, "I will also use Japanese poems or paintings, simple and familiar ones not necessarily esoteric items to try for the project."  Darrel Ricco Doss ( 熊大東說: "我也會用日本的詩歌或繪畫，簡單熟悉的，不需要深奧的東西來嘗試這個項目。。" Darrel Ricco Doss ( 熊大東shuō: "Wǒ yě huì yòng rìběn de shīgē huò huìhuà, jiǎndān shúxī de, bù xūyào shēn'ào de dōngxī lái chángshì zhège xiàngmù."
•  Steven  (葛艾倫) said, "I have time constraint.  However, it's a good idea."  Steven  (葛艾倫) 說: "我有時間限制。 不過，這是個好主意。" Steve (葛愛倫) shuō: "Wǒ yǒu shíjiān xiànzhì. Bùguò, zhè shìgè hǎo zhǔyì."
• Raymond(書宗) said, "I would like to have two suggestions: 1. we can have speech contest with 5 minutes.  The topics can be anything related to Chinese culture and language surrounding us. 2.  The art exhibits, music entertainment, and ethnic and race clothing display sharing. " Raymond(書宗) 說: "我有兩個建議： 1.我們可以進行5分鐘的演講比賽。 話題可以是任何與我們周圍的中國文化和語言有關的東西。 2、藝術展品、音樂娛樂、民族服飾展示分享。" Raymond(書宗) shuō: "Wǒ yǒu liǎng gè jiànyì: 1. Wǒmen kěyǐ jìnxíng 5 fēnzhōng de yǎnjiǎng bǐsài. Huàtí kěyǐ shì rènhé yǔ wǒmen zhōuwéi de zhōngguó wénhuà hé yǔyán yǒuguān de dōngxī. 2, Yìshù zhǎnpǐn, yīnyuè yúlè, mínzú fúshì zhǎnshì fēnxiǎng."
• Teacher Wu said, "We will use "Speaking Mandarin in One Thousand words" as the main textbook, and "Go Chinese 100-600" and "Let's Learn Mandarin" as supplementary homework."

• Teacher Wu said, "I like John Denver and Tom Jones during 1970's while Raymond's mother is a fan of Elvis Presley.  Our new teaching assistant, Ting, told us 'He is Cat King." Can we use this as our homework assignment this week?  "Why was Elvis Presley called cat king in Taiwan?"  "  吳老師說: "我喜歡 1970 年代的 John Denver 和 Tom Jones，而 Raymond 的母親也非常喜歡 Elvis Presley。 我們的新助教, Ting, 筠婷, 告訴我們“他是貓王。”我們可以以此作為本週的家庭作業嗎？“為什麼貓王在台灣被稱為 "貓王？"”。" Wú lǎoshī shuō: "Wǒ xǐhuān 1970 niándài de John Denver hé Tom Jones, ér Raymond de mǔqīn yě fēicháng xǐhuān Elvis Presley. Wǒmen de xīn zhùjiào Ting gàosù wǒmen “tā shì māo wáng.” Wǒmen kěyǐ yǐ cǐ zuòwéi běn zhōu de jiātíng zuòyè ma?“Wèishéme māo wáng zài táiwān bèi chēng wèi māo wáng?"
