  • Teacher Wu said, "How's everyone!  Let's put your names on the  writing practice book."  吳老師: "大家好! 讓我們把你的名字寫在寫作練習冊上。" Wú lǎoshī shuō: "Dàjiā hǎo, Ràng wǒmen bǎ nǐ de míngzì xiě zài xiězuò liànxí cè shàng."


  • Teacher Wu said, "The meanings of these characters are as the following:"  吳老師: "這些字的意思如下:" Wú lǎoshī shuō: "hèxiē zì de Yìsi rúxià:"

  •  

    (我)I,me,myself started as a weapon to protect yourself
    (是) - uses the sundial as the point of direction and the footstep to follow through
    (名)  uses the mouth to call someone or to identify the object in the dark (The moon)

     

    (華) the word starts a a flower to indicate its beauty and splendor
    (府) the word originated as a warehouse to store the valuables such as the shells (old money currency).  It becomes an official residence or mansion
    (臺) the traditional and (台) the simplified are both interchangeable.  The traditional (臺) has the castle looks like a high platform
    (灣) - the word originated as water following to form a bend in a river or a strait between the ocean and the sea

    (學) the word indicates a teamwork using both left and right hands

    to build a place with roof to cultivate the sons (The old culture has remained a patriarchy since the ancient days of Confucius) 

    (校) the word originated from using the woods from the tree as the punishing tools to shackle the criminal.  It also means to verify the right and the wrong

    (生) the word originated as the young grass or tree sprouting from the soil.  It also means new life, birth, and growth

    (語) - communicate with mouth or flag symbols to send messages
    (文) it originated as tattoo patterns on the body and gradually used to mean the symbols of the intricacy of recording the languages
    (中) cut in the middle from the rectangle shape
    (心) heart


  • Teacher Wu said, "I will share the samples of simulated Test of Chinese as Foreign Language (TOCFL) practice books with you if I receive them."  吳老師: "如果我收到,我會與您分享模擬 “華語文能力測驗"(TOCFL)練習冊的樣本。" Wú lǎoshī shuō: "Rúguǒ wǒ shōu dào, wǒ huì yǔ nín fēnxiǎng mónǐ "Huáyǔ wén nénglì cèyàn." (TOCFL) liànxí cè de yàngběn."
  • Teacher Wu said, "The following is the difference of these two characters that we mentioned about "foreign workers" from last week."  吳老師: "以下是我們上週提到的“外勞, 外僗"這兩個字的區別。" Wú lǎoshī shuō: "Yǐxià shì wǒmen shàng zhōu tí dào de “wài láo, wài láo” zhè liǎng gè zì de qūbié."
  •  

    (勞) originated as the heart is burning to mean hard work, exhaustion, and suffering
    (僗) is commonly used by people from the north of China to curse the people

    (勞) and (僗) are interchangeable

     (僗) ) is much abusive and vulgar.  It is old language.


  • Joseph (高 靖和) said, "I like the creative class format.  I would like to use Chinese poems, either classical or modern to translate them into English as my research project."  Joseph (高 靖和)說: "我喜歡創意班的形式。 我想用中國詩歌,無論是古典的還是現代的翻譯成英文作為我的研究項目。" Joseph (高 靖和) shuō: "Wǒ xǐhuān chuàngyì de xíngshì. Wǒ xiǎng yòng zhōngguó shīgē, wúlùn shì gǔdiǎn de háishì xiàndài de fānyì chéng yīngwén zuòwéi wǒ de yánjiū xiàngmù."
  • Joseph (高 靖和) said, "This is the poem of "spring dawn" by a very famous poet in Tang Dynasty.  I will give it a try.."  Joseph (高 靖和)說: "這是唐代著名詩人的“春曉”詩。 我會試試看。" Joseph (高 靖和) shuō: "Zhè shì táng dài zhùmíng shīrén de “chūnxiǎo” shī. Wǒ huìshì shìkàn."

    春曉Chūn Xiǎo

    孟浩然 (Meng Haoran).

    春眠不覺曉,Chūn mián bù jué xiǎo

    處處聞啼鳥。chùchù wén tíniǎo.

    夜來風雨聲,Yè lái fēngyǔ sheng,

    花落知多少。Huā luò zhī duōshǎo.


  • Teacher Wu said, "I have selective classical & contemporary poems as the following for you to use as references. ."  吳老師: "我有精選的古典和現代詩如下供您參考。" Wú lǎoshī shuō: " Wǒ yǒu jīngxuǎn de gǔdiǎn hé xiàndài shī rúxià gōng nín cānkǎo."

    B. write 5 sentences about the special features of your college where you attended.   
    For example:
    1. Taiwan University is famous for the Azalea in the spring and its coconut trees boulevard 
    台灣大學以春天的杜鵑花和椰林大道而聞名
    Táiwān dàxué yǐ chūntiān de dùjuān huā hé yē lín dàdào ér wénmíng
