One of my observations is about father's earnest exhorting in "Traditional Taiwanese Language" to the little girl about the importance of cleaning up the rice grain from her side of the mouth and her rice bowl, otherwise, she would get a "pockmarked husband."  But, my father would use even harsher words to warn us that we would never be "married out" if we were wasteful.." -
