Teacher Wu’s translation: Wú lǎoshī de fānyì -
Zhège gùshì shì guānyú wǒ yuèfù de zànglǐ de.
This story is about my father-in-law during the funeral speech.
這個故事是關於我岳父在葬禮上講的話。
Yuèfù de lǎo péngyǒu fābiǎo jiǎnghuà.
A friend of my father-in-law made a speech.
我岳父的一位朋友發了言。
Tā shuō táiwān huà.
He spoke in Taiwanese.
他說台灣話。
Wǒ bù huì shuō táiwān huà.
I did not know how to speak Taiwanese.
我不會說台灣話。
Suǒyǐ wǒ bù dǒng.
So, I did not understand.
所以，我不懂。
Shì hěn zāng de jiǎnghuà !
It’ a pretty bad word!
這是一個很髒的話！
Túrán Tā zài yīngwén jiàohǎn “F— you”.
All of a sudden, he was saying in English “F — you”.
他用英語說 “F-you”。
Wǒ hěn jīngyà.
I was quite surprised.
我很驚訝。
Wèishéme?
Why?
為什麼？
Zěnme nà?
What happened?
發生了什麼？
Dànshì, Měi gèrén dōu zài xiào!
But everyone was laughing!
但是，每個人都在笑！
Wǒ hěn kùnhuò.
I was quite puzzled.
我很困惑。
Ránhòu, wǒ wèn dì sì shūshu.
Then, I asked the 4th uncle.
然後，我問第四叔叔。
Tā gàosù wǒ zhè shì gāo'ěrfū gùshì
He told me it is related to Golf stories.
他告訴我這與高爾夫故事有關。
Ta shuō “yīngwén shuō tee off”. Zhōngwén shuō “fāqiú,fa quio”. Dànshì, táiwān huà shuō,”kyu”.
He said, “English ‘Tee off’ is ‘fa qiuo’ in Chinese. But it’s ‘kyu’ in Taiwanese!”
他說： “英語 'Tee off' 是中文的 'fa qiuo'。 但是，這是台灣話中的 ‘kyu’！”
Ránhòu, wǒ dǒng.
Finally, I understood.
終於，我懂了。
